You're right on the male/female too - you have both male and female flowers on a plant and only the female give you fruit. I didn't get anything started this year.. still want to get a couple of potted citrus tress given how many limes / lemons I can go through at times. Are you planning on harvesting some corgette flowers to try filled on their own. They can be so impossibly hard to find in stores/markets but having the plants in your backyear should make that easier.
