Shetland Lace
I’ve started a lace knitting project for a friend.В She is due to have a baby in November and we are having her baby shower in mid September.В So I’m knitting a blanket/shawl.В It’s a shetland lace project, one of the easier ones.В The lady who designed it said she knitted it in 4 weeks of 1-2h a day.В So in Nic knitting, that’ll mean probably about 3 months.В I’ve sit down to work out how much I have to knit to get it done in time, and it’s 10 rows a day.В Here’s the start, it’s the center section which is knitted first.

Ooooooooo… lovely!!
Looks lovely Nic… and scarily hard all that super fine yarn.
I am having as much ADD with knitting projects as I am with stitching, I doubt I will ever finish anything in my life time just leave behind a house full of partially started projects
Can’t wait to see this once it is all blocked it will be amazing I am sure. (Are those your new magic needles.. they lock like the sock needles I have…same colourful wood)
Yep, those are the magic needles. And as for the super thin yarn, it’s not as bad as you think. I’m knitting with the 2ply merino lace yarn but it has been so finely spun that it is thinner than 1ply (or at least so says the website where I bought it). I had to learn a new method of casting on (knitting method rather than long tail) and I started it about 7 – 10 times (to begin with due to needle problems, then troubles unknitting when I made a booboo), but I’ve got it sorted now and it’s going well.
You really should jump in to your shawl, don’t worry about the ADD
The needles look super and I am glad to hear that they are worth it… I shall have to try and see if I can find some here.
Great start on that shawl… hope to see more of it soon! grin.
